Dear PRJUSD Families,

Happy Friday! As we head into November, we hope you've had a wonderful week and are looking forward to a fun and safe Halloween weekend!

First, a quick reminder that Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, November 1. Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour! We'll all get an extra hour this weekend as we settle into the shorter days of fall.

Preparing for Winter Weather

The San Luis Obispo County Office of Education has shared some important resources to help families prepare for potentially severe winter weather associated with El Niño. While El Niño can influence our weather patterns, it doesn't necessarily determine when or where individual storms will occur. Being prepared ahead of time is one of the best ways to keep your family safe.

The flyers, linked below, offer practical guidance for preparing your home, assembling emergency supplies, understanding flood warnings, and staying safe before, during, and after a storm. They also explain two important county notification systems: AlertSLO, which provides information about severe weather and road closures, and Reverse 911, which delivers emergency alerts about situations such as evacuations and shelter-in-place orders.

We encourage every family to take a few minutes to review these resources, make sure your household has an emergency plan, and sign up for local alerts. A little preparation now can make a meaningful difference when severe weather arrives.

A Few Updates to Our Weekly Newsletter

You'll also notice a few changes to the way we've organized this newsletter! As you scroll down, you'll notice that we've introduced dedicated Announcements, Community, and Reminders sections to make it easier to find the information most relevant to your family.

We've also expanded our Upcoming Dates section to include selected community events happening around Paso Robles, in addition to District and school activities. Our hope is to make this newsletter an even more useful resource for planning your family's weeks ahead. We'll include links whenever possible so you can learn more, and please keep in mind that not all events listed are sponsored or organized by PRJUSD.

As always, thank you for being such an important part of our school community. Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend!

Join the LCAP Parent Advisory Committee

PRJUSD is looking for dedicated parents and guardians to serve on our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) Parent Advisory Committee for the 2026–27 school year.

This is an opportunity to have a direct voice in how the District sets priorities, invests resources, and works to improve outcomes for all students. Committee members will collaborate with district leaders, review student performance data, discuss goals and priorities, and provide feedback to the Superintendent and Board of Trustees as we develop our next three-year LCAP.

The first LCAP Parent Advisory Committee meeting will be held November 5, at 5:30 p.m.

Celebrating Perfect Scores on State Assessments!

At the October 27 Board meeting, PRJUSD proudly recognized 21 students who earned a combined 24 perfect scores on California's statewide assessments during the 2025–2026 school year!

These impressive achievements included 12 perfect scores in English language arts, 11 in mathematics, and one in science. Several students earned perfect scores in more than one subject!

Achieving a perfect score on the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) or California Science Test (CAST) means earning the highest possible score for that grade level—an exceptional academic accomplishment.

Congratulations to these outstanding students! We also extend our appreciation to the teachers, staff, and families who support and encourage their academic success.

Liberty High School Students Give Back Through Adopt-a-Street Program

Liberty High School students are making a difference in their community through an Adopt-a-Street partnership with The Earth Shine Organization.

Each quarter, students roll up their sleeves to collect litter along Niblick Road between Nickerson Road and Creston Road, helping keep Paso Robles clean and beautiful.

Beyond caring for their community, the program gives students opportunities to develop leadership skills, build connections, and take pride in the place they call home.

We're proud of our Liberty High School Sharks for putting community service into action and leading by example!
