Home of the Jaguars

End of Week 4

Posted Date: 09/04/26 (04:55 PM)

Jaguar Parents,

As week 4 of school closes, I wanted to message parents with some updates about things here at Lewis Flamson:

EMS on Campus
Emergency Medical Services was on campus today. In full transparency I want parents to be aware when EMS is on campus so you know what's happening at your child's school. Every day at lunch I personally open Lions Field for students to play soccer, football, baseball, volleyball or just to run around and play on the grass. At the end of lunch two students playing soccer got too physical and aggressive with each other. As can happen, even among friends, this can often result in a fight. One student fell, hit his head on the grass and was feeling lightheaded. EMS was called to ensure he was OK, which he was. He left campus with his father. Both students were cited by PRPD as per our practice (we cite for fights). We take fighting seriously here at Lewis Flamson. Please speak with your students about not putting hands on each other at school as things can escalate and result in severe consequences.

Now to more exciting news:

Back to School Night
Thanks to all the parents who came out for Back to School Night this week! We were really pleased with the turnout. It was fun to see all the parents pour into the hallways during passing periods to experience what their children experience each day! We are so proud of our students as well as the families we get to work with!

During our meeting before Back to School Night, I asked for parents willing to participate in our School Site Council. I had one volunteer (Thank you!) but I need at least 3 more. Once I have all 4 volunteers (or more) I will send out a formal ballot because School Site Council is an elected position.  If you are interested, please send me your name for the ballot. The first meeting is Sept 28 at 5pm so we need to get our parents elected quickly! There are a total of 5 meetings during the year. This committee reviews our Emergency plans, our School Plan, goals, and needs assessment.

Mr. Parks Art Classes have a show at Studios on the Park Saturday!
Come out to Studios on the Park this Saturday at 6pm for the opening of our Lewis Flamson Art Show in the Creative Lab! Mr. Parks students are already producing great art and we are excited for the community to see it!

Honoring September 11 next week
Next Friday, September 11, we will honor those we lost with a moment of silence. Take time to share with your children why this day was so impactful to our country.

Picture Day at Lewis Flamson next Friday, September 11
Next Friday, September 11 is our picture day here at Lewis Flamson. Please make sure your child is at school!  The order forms will be given to students on Tuesday.

Election Week
This week we had our election posters up all around campus. Our election will take place on Tuesday for our ASB officers. Good luck to all who had the courage and leadership to step up and run for office! We are proud of all of you!

Volleyball and Football
Volleyball is up and running! Our 7th and 8th grade girls volleyball teams have already played a couple of close games and we are so proud to have them representing us! This week our coed football tryouts ended. We had 36 students try out and we had to reduce to 24 students, but we are proud of all who tried out. Our games will begin in a week or two.

Upcoming Flu Vaccine Clinics

Thanks for reading this weekly update!

As always, reach out with any questions! At Lewis Flamson, our admin team prides itself on an open door policy. We love working with our parents and look forward to continuing to build these relationships throughout the year!

Hey Families,

The Wayfinder Parent letter accidentally had the suicide prevention link copied again. It is fixed now.
