Welcome to the Library
If you have any issue with your Chromebook, please come to the library for help.
This includes:
- Chromebooks not working properly
- Lost Chromebooks
- Broken Chromebooks
Device Insurance:
- Chromebook insurance is $20
- Payment for device insurance is due by September 30th, 2024 and covers one school year.
- If you are a new student, you have two weeks after enrollment to pay for insurance.
- Payments can be made at the library through cash or check.
- Payments can be made online at https://prjusd.graystep.com/
Chromebook Help
My Chromebook isn't turning on
- Plug in your Chromebook and make sure the charging light turns on.
- Hold down the refresh button and click on the power button one time
- You have restarted your Chromebook. Wait a few seconds to see if it turns on
**Chromebooks that are completely out of battery need to be charged for a few minutes for them to turn on
My Chromebook isn't charging
- Check if the charger or adapter cables are completely plugged in, both to your Chromebook and the wall.
- Check to see if the power outlet is working.
If your Chromebook still won't charge, come to the library with your broken charger to get a replacement
My keys are not typing the right letters
- Click on the clock in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Click on “Keyboard” and make sure it is set to “US.”
- If it isn’t, click on "Keyboard" and change it to "US English"
My headphones don't work with my Chromebook
- Change the sound input or output:
- At the bottom right, click the time.
- Next to the volume slider, select the Right arrow
.
- Change where sound comes from (output) or where you speak into (input).
- Next to the volume slider, select the Right arrow
My Chromebook isn't connecting to Wi-Fi
- At the bottom right, click on the time.
- Select Not Connected
.
- If you are at school and the Wi-Fi name is "Paso Schools" or "PRJUSD" and a signal strength, your Chromebook is already connected to Wi-Fi.
- Turn on Wi-Fi.
- Your Chromebook will automatically look for available networks and show them to you in a list.
My Chromebook is crashing or freezing
- Turn off your Chromebook by holding down on the power button, then turn it back on.
- Close all your apps and browser windows.
- If a specific tab in your browser causes your Chromebook to crash or freeze, hard refresh the page: Ctrl + Shift + r.
- If you've installed any new apps or extensions recently, uninstall them.
My Chromebook needs to be updated
- Turn on your Chromebook.
- At the bottom right, select the time
Settings

- At the bottom left, select About ChromeOS.
- Under "Google ChromeOS," find your Chromebook operating system version.
- To update to the latest version, select Check for updates.
- If this option isn't available, your Chromebook may be up to date.
- If your Chromebook finds a software update, it will start to download automatically.
